We wish you a Merry Christmas!

Santa visited Tāmaki Primary School and delivered some cool presents. Tasola, Junior, Puanesi and AJ loved their gifts. THANK YOU SANTA!

On our last day of school, we put on hats. Puanesi become an elf along with AJ. Junior and Tasola were reindeer for the entire day.

School at Alert Level 3.2

AJ, Junior and Tarzan returned for Room 3's first day at school this week.

Today's weather was sunny so we did our work outside underneath the shade. Check out the pictures of our writing lesson.

We wrote about our homes and houses. Did you know that AJ, Tarzan and Junior live in two storey houses! How crazy is that? Junior has six bedrooms and two kitchens at his house. AJ has a HUGE backyard at this house and Tarzan lives in a house with his Mum, Dad, brother and sister.

Stories by Junior

This has been Junior's week. He's a machine and is DESTROYING his learning during lockdown.😀 Junior has written a story about his weekend and used sequence words to make sure that his ideas are in the right order. He answered questions about a story he read and wrote them down for us to enjoy. And just when you think he's finished, he writes an amazing story about cooking....whaaaaaaaaat!?💥👏  Junior is amazing!

Ka rawe Junior! 👌😀 At this rate, I'm going to have to change the name from Room 3's Blog to Junior's Writing Blog! 😆 Thank you for sharing your awesome mahi!

Writing by Junior

Matua Stefan LOVES 💙 celebrating and sharing the awesome work our students do at home.

Junior has been writing fun stories all year and has continued this during lockdown.

Junior was tasked with writing a story about a fun activity he'd like to do during Winter. He also wrote a recount about things he did during the long weekend. Check out his stories below. 😀

Fantastic stuff Junior! 🎉 🎊

Welcome to Term 4

We have enjoyed our first week of Term 4. We did lots of online learning and even had Reading and Math workshops! Some of us sent photos of our learning to share with everyone. Check them out below.

Uasi has been practising Phonics. Uasi would listen for a word. He would break the word up into chunks of sound and then write those letter sounds into his book. Fantastic stuff Uasi!

Junior shared his Challenge Tuesday activity. The task on Tuesday was to construct a self-portrait using materials from home. Junior cleverly used fruit, vegetables and a table to make his self-portrait. Very creative Junior, excellent job!

This week, we started learning about the Seasons for our Inquiry topic. AJ spent Friday morning writing a story about a Summer beach trip. Thanks for your mahi AJ!

Online Learning

Learning from home

Tāmaki Makaurau might be operating at Alert Level whā, but rūma toru is not slowing down with our mahi!

Ana (rūma toru) and her sister Alayna (rūma rua) are thinking about Maths. Their awesome mum helped them make the learning activities you see below. Ana and Alayna have to match the number with the word, and then place those numbers in the right order. Tino pai rawa atu!

Not only are they Maths wizards, but they are also experts in Phonics. They are reading words, making the initial letter sound and matching it with the correct letter of the alphabet. Ka wani kē!

As if that wasn't cool enough, the superstar John Nelson is back to share some more work he's been doing at home. John Nelson has been practicing writing words in his book. He focused really hard on forming his letters correctly, even spacing and spelling the words correctly. Ka rawe John Nelson!

 Online Learning during Level 4

Room 3 might all be learning from home but we are still doing awesome mahi! This is a picture of John Nelson's maths book. He has been learning his numbers to 100!

Before lockdown, Room 3 would start our mathematics learning by singing this awesome song. John Nelson is continuing this learning at home. Thank you for sharing your mahi John Nelson. You are a counting superstar!

Bronze Medalists (Right): John-Nelson and Anthony.

Silver Medalists (Left): Puanesi and Tasola.

Gold Medalists (Middle): Sofya and Jorjah.

Smiles for the Olympic games.

Matariki Stars

Check out our diamond Matariki stars! Acacia, Kahlani and AJ are holding their awesome stars made from shapes. Can you see the shapes we used to make ours stars? At Tāmaki Primary School we are looking forward to celebrating Matariki by colouring pictures and learning Te Reo Māori. We love stars because it's nice and bright in the night sky.

Gardening and bugs!

We went exploring in the garden today. The worm farm had lots of creepy crawlies including centipedes and snails! We were digging holes in the ground and planting seeds to grow. We love being outside in the garden and being good kaitiaki.

Room 3 Rūkau

In Room 3, we read the Cook Island Māori book "Rūkau nō te rā 'ānau'anga" (Birthday Rūkau).
Rūkau is a special dish from the Cook Islands. It is made with taro leaves, corned beef, onion and coconut cream.

After reading the book, we made rūkau the way Moana and Papa Tere made it in the book.

When it had been cooked, we wrote down some instructions so everyone could make it. We even got to eat the delicious rūkau. It was yummy, yummy, yummy!
